Women for Women International

While looking through my Pink Magazine one night I came across a blurb about Women for Women International. I read about the women of the Congo. Most of them are widowed due to the constant fighting there. Regardless, the families are full of children that need to eat. These moms go out into the fields to provide for their kids and risk rape and death on a daily basis. There are no men to protect them from the Army and the Army reports to no one. The women's love for their kids is so powerful they risk their lives every day to care for them. I cried. Then I went to the website and signed up to be a donor. Women for Women

I am now a sponsor to a 34 year old woman from the Congo. She is lucky to still have a husband but he is an invalid and can't work. They have four children, one of which recently passed away. She sends me letters every other month or so and shares her life. She recently told me how she can't get her 6 year old to clean her room. I can identify with that!

For a small monthly fee (currently $27) I have a real impact on this woman and her family. I am a pretty self sufficient and independent woman myself and want to help others see that side of themselves.
